Las Comadres de LAM – Ladies' Brunch
A few weeks ago a few of us, die-hard, LAM ladies got together for a Sunday brunch in the city to do what us Latinas love to do: comer y chismear.
Ten guapisimas mujeres came out on that beautiful, sunny Sunday to Luna Park, a staple restaurant in the Mission District. The idea for us to get together came from Giovanni, the fearless leader of LAM. It was his vision, for the ladies of LAM, to come together to get to know one another, build friendships, and grow our network.
Our brunch started off with a toast to our fabulous selves and a very fun and telling ice breaker, in which, each lady had to share two truths and one lie about herself – the group had to guess which one was the lie. The juicy and caliente details we learned about one another became great conversation starters and from that moment there wasn’t a single second of awkward silence. We talked about our work, careers, family, and education. We talked about what we’re passionate about, the latest book we were reading, the trips we have taken and the ones that we have yet to take.
There was no doubt that this table was comprised of ambitious, intelligent, and humble women. Women full of optimism, drive, and an insatiable thirst for life. Women who are proud of where they come from, where they are, and where they are going.
I left the restaurant that afternoon feeling very giddy and, no, it wasn’t because of the unlimited mimosas. It was from having found a wonderful connection with these women. The type of connection that makes you feel like you’ve known someone your entire life. I was truly inspired by these ladies and feel very empowered and proud to be their comadre.
